CIA animals generate high levels of antibody to autologous type II collagen. To assay antibody levels, highly purified type II collagen from various species is available. This collagen is specially prepared for coating ELISA plates and is supplied as a 100x concentrated solution. Each vial contains enough collagen to coat ten, 96 well plates. To prevent fibril formation, 10X dilution buffer is also supplied. Mouse monoclonal antibodies which cross-react with all species of type II collagen are supplied upon request. Also available are complete type II collagen antibody ELISA kits. Type I collagen, which has very high homology to type II collagen, from various species is also available to determine the crossreactivity of antibodies to this collagen type.
