There are a number of well-characterized, ischemic stroke models used to study ischemic stroke injury and mechanisms of cell damage. Common models for stroke pathophysiology are listed below. Choosing the most appropriate model is based on where the therapeutic is expected to work. Focal ischemia (MCAo) models are commonly used to mimic the human stroke situation, however the global ischemia model would be highly relevant in clinical conditions such as cardiac arrest. 

 

Our stroke models can also be used as a platform for studying affects of therapies on neurodegenerative disorders.  The following table describes ischemic stroke models offered by MD Biosciences along with the area of expected damage and relevant cognitive/behavioral tests.
