Acute Myocardial infarction (AMI) is the interruption of blood supply to part of the heart, commonly due to occlusion blockage. Ischemia-reperfusion (IR) is the restoration of blood flow to a tissue that was formerly deficient of blood flow. Tissue damage after IR is considered ischemia-reperfusion injury.
This event is mimmicked in animal models to allow for the study of drug therapies or medical devices.
MD Biosciences offers two models for the evaluation of ischemic-reperfusion injury.
