Cytokine-stimulated synoviocyte assay for compound screening

Fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) have emerged as key pro-inflammatory cells promoting joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) due to their ability to produce massive amounts of degradative enzymes. Compounds can be screened for their ability to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators produced by human FLS. Human fibroblast-like synoviocytes (from normal, osteoarthritis positive or rheumatoid arthritis positive tissue) are co-stimulated with IL-1b and TNF-a.
